Joey Hendrickson founded the Columbus Songwriters Association in late 2011. Since he began performing as 16 year old songwriter, Joey has registered over 150 songs with BMI, and performed 500+ shows around the United States.
Joey is one of those singer/songwriters who records, mixes, and produces his own music via laptop. In 2011, Joey released an acoustic EP called GROW. The 5 song EP includes live renditions of Chasing You, Foot Prints, Silent Treatment, To Grow, and Chemistry, which were recorded in the subways of Chicago during a Summer busking trip. Parts of the GROW EP were recorded with Joey’s iPhone microphone, and all tracks were mixed from headphones during his travels. However, listeners don’t seem to mind the raw quality. GROW has received thousands of downloads, and since release, has raised thousands of dollars in support of homeless youth. www.osustarhouse.com
As a performer, Joey frequents stages in Nashville, Chicago, and Columbus every year, developing a deeper love for songwriting, busking, and subway trains along the way. In 2012, Joey signed a publishing contract with a Columbus-based company, with plans to release singles during 2013. With more than a hundred songs in his pocket, and many more in mind, Joey is drawing nearer to his dream of becoming a professional songwriter. In 2013, Joey will make weekend trips to Nashville and perform in songwriter showcases in Columbus with Columbus Songwriters Association. www.ColumbusSongwritersAssociation.com
