Meet the Artists
Matt Munhall is a pianist, composer, recording artist and performer whose songs are stylistically diverse and inspire reflection on the journey of life. His performances are always evolving, and his delivery and direction of his band show he is a seasoned professional. Concert set lists usually include a wide variety of classics in addition to songs from his six full length albums. Covers usually include songs of Sinatra, Beatles, Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Randy Newman, Billy Joel, Elton John, and other hall of fame artists.
As an artist who has averaged over 200 performances a year over the last 16 years, Munhall has learned to adapt and improvise well, keeping audiences of all ages and backgrounds engaged and entertained. He has played in many varied venues in central Ohio, played regularly in NYC and other cities in the NE and Midwest, played several times in Austin, TX, and even played in Germany on Ramstein Air Force Base for 6 months In 2004-2005
In 2013, Matt finished his fourth studio album, 700 Miles, with Nashville producer Brad Jones at his studio “Alex the Great”. Jones is a prodigious and prolific producer for artists, including Richard Julian, Over The Rhine, Tim Easton, Josh Rouse, Jill Sobule, Marshall Crenshaw, The Autumn Defense, Chuck Prophet, Hayes Carll, Dolly Parton and many, many more.
Notably, all the guitar on the recording was played by guitar legend Charlie Sexton. Sexton is Bob Dylan’s lead guitarist for most of the last 15 years.
Brad Jones, producer of 700 Miles, said the following about Matt’s album:
“This is the best record I’ve been involved in since Bush was president. There was very little discussion about what would be hip or what would be timely. It was all instinct and delivery on Matt’s part. I think I’ve listened to the record 20-30 times since we did it – which is something I never do. Munhall is musically gifted, unapologetically sensitive, unflinchingly honest, poetically tough, and if you don’t believe me, just listen to the record.”
Matt has since made another record with Brad Jones. Walking To The Light was released in 2017.
Also, Munhall co wrote and released a collaboration entitled Miracle on Broad Street, produced by Grammy nominated Bill Boggs in the Summer of 2018. “
What comes after Nirvana and the Pixies?
For a 14-year-old kid in living on Lake Erie—D’Angelo’s “Voodoo”, apparently.
While that album became the Sgt. Pepper of the neosoul movement, it also served as the watershed moment for the Akron-born Parker Louis, who’s started putting his stamp on the musical world around the time his hero sat back down at the keyboard.
Fresh from the halls of Capital University’s Conservatory Music, Louis stitched his self-taught chops with flashes of soul and rock and roll, boosting his debut band Forest & The Evergreens into a debut that saw them make the main stage at Breakaway Music Festival and ink a deal with United Talent Agency.
Today, in addition to producing for Ohio acts like Doc Robinson and T.Wong, Louis is releasing his own material, backed by an accomplished six-piece outfit, their pair of EPs, All Good Things Pt. 1 and 2 dropping in 2018.
Louis’s once heavier guitar-driven anthems have matured into a silkier R&B, still bolstered by a voice capable of asserting a character beyond its years.
Think Donny Hathaway vocals bolstered by Buddy Guy’s steady hand—Louis can take over a room as much as he can take it into trance.
Effe, Fran Litterski’s solo project, has really taken flight. Litterski’s extensive experience as a member of Kid Runner, Fields & Planes, and as a touring member of Magic Man is the angelic vocalist for Field and Planes. Her indie pop band experiences explore the space between heart ache and happiness.
Fields & Planes lush and melodic music invokes names like, Sylvan Esso, Lana Del Ray, The Bird and the Bee, and Julia Michaels.
Their first full length album, “A Place inside your mind” was released in 2013, followed by the dreamy “Deeper than Before” in 2015. They released two EPs in 2018 “Press” in March and “Pause” in November.
Singer-songwriter Jordan Kirk was born in Vermilion Ohio.
He first picked up a guitar at age 12 and began performing onstage just two years later.
He has been touring the US since the release of his debut album “Abundant Sunshine” in 2014. While rooted in classical interpretations of the singer-songwriter genre, Kirk’s music sometimes reaches into psychedelia, delta blues, and gospel.
After a considerable amount of national airplay and press, the artist’s sophomore album “Ragamuffin Parade” was released on Scioto Records in June of 2017. Following his first label release, Kirk completed two tours of the US, the latter covering over 50 cities in 2 months.
